You Needn’t Suffer With An Aching Neck

April 30, 2024

“What a pain in the neck!” That saying refers to things that are undesirable because so many people know the discomfort of neck pain. About 80 percent of us feel it during our lifetimes, and 20 percent to 50 percent deal with it annually. A chiropractor specializes in relieving musculoskeletal disorders that often involve the neck.

At the office of Springfield Chiropractic Clinic, our main mission is to alleviate your condition. We want you to feel relief as much as you want to feel relief. Constant discomfort affects more than just your physical health; it affects the way you live your life. We understand this and are here for you.

Common causes of neck pain include poor posture whether you’re sitting or standing; sleeping in an unwieldy position; muscle tension; muscle strain; a slipped spinal disc; age-related wear and tear; and constant forward bending of the neck while using a smartphone, laptop or similar electronic device.

A chiropractor is a master of physical manipulation who can use several techniques that are low-risk and highly effective. These are some of them.

A chiropractor uses his hands or specialized instruments to apply controlled force to adjust or manipulate specific joints, particularly in the spine. The goal is to reestablish proper alignment, increase joint mobility and relieve pain.

Cervical spine adjustments are targeted manipulations whose goals are to reduce stiffness, improve range of motion and relieve pressure on the nerves that may be contributing to the pain.

Soft tissue techniques such as massage, stretching and myofascial release confront muscle tension and improve flexibility in the neck and its surrounding areas.

Chiropractors may prescribe specific therapeutic exercises to strengthen the muscles supporting the neck and improve overall posture. These exercises are often tailored to the individual's condition and are intended to complement the effects of manual adjustments.

A chiropractor may also recommend that you apply heat or cold—whichever he believes your situation calls for—to the affected area to help diminish inflammation.

If you suffer from any type or malady that can be treated by a chiropractor, the office of Springfield Chiropractic Clinic is here to help. Your comfort is our top priority, and we take the time to address your every concern and explain your options in care. For more information about our many services, please don’t hesitate to call us today.
